Especially the name FIA as the holder of famous auto racing events such as the Formula One World Championship, the World Rally Championship (WCR) or the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) is indispensable in the field of motorsport.
Since 1904 FIA (Fédération Internationale de L’Automobile) is the governing body of international recognized automobile clubs, headquartered in Paris. It strives to promote the interests of motoring organizations and motor car users around the world.
In Germany, the implementation of the FIA requirements as well as the exercise of the sporting power for automotive and motorcycle sports are made by the German Motor Sport Association "Deutscher Motor Sport Bund e.V." (DMSB), existing since 1998.
Racing cars are primarily used in automobile sport and therefore do not count as production vehicles.
